Royal Treatment Spa at Excalibur Review

The Royal Treatment Spa & Fitness Center at Excalibur lives up to its name -- if you visit the facility, you will be treated like a king or queen for a day.

The bright, modern 13,000-square-foot facility features a spacious workout area with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the hotel's pool. If that view doesn't keep you from getting bored on the treadmill, there are plasma-screen TVs to watch while you work out.

Near the fitness center is a tanning bed, but this isn't any ordinary tanning bed. The bed has a flat-screen TV built into the top so that you can watch TV while you lie down and get bronzed.

The Royal Treatment Spa offers separate men's and women's areas. Both have relaxation rooms, eucalyptus steam rooms, saunas and whirlpools.

Lockers and safety deposit boxes are available to guests, and robes and sandals are provided.

Each individual shower has a small private changing area just outside the stall, which is an uncommon amenity in most spas.

Men's and women's treatment rooms are completely separate, and there are no cross-gender services available. The treatment rooms are secluded and quiet and feature heated beds for maximum comfort during massages.

While the Swedish massage is the most popular, one of the Royal Treatment Spa's specialties is the Aveda Therapy massage. Based on Ayurvedic principles, sensory testing is conducted to choose an aromatic key element used in the treatment to create an overall sense of balance and well-being.

The spa uses Aveda products exclusively in its treatments and sells both men's and women's product lines.

Other treatments available at the spa include body wraps, salt glows, loofah scrubs, scalp treatments and Aveda facials, including special services for sensitive skin.

After you're done getting pampered, you can get ready to head back to reality in the spa's dressing area. Unlike many other spas, the Royal Treatment offers many individual vanity stations, which are each fully stocked with toiletries, hair dryers and curling irons.
